Computer Club

Noah’s Ark has a dedicated computer lab with advanced technology and supervised guidance. In this Computer Club children and young people with special needs can learn and practise computing skills in a supportive environment where they need not have any prior experience with computers.

Our Computer Club activities are part of our ongoing extension services and plans are underway to establish a Computer Club designed for adults with special needs.

Saturday Computer Club

This is for children five years and older and provides recreational, social and learning opportunities for children with disabilities. The children have access to a variety of computer club activities, including specially adapted equipment.  Our experienced computer staff take into consideration the special circumstances of each child and their level of ability.

School Holiday Computer Club Program

The school holiday programme is open to children with special needs (over the age of five) and their friends and/or siblings. It provides an opportunity to participate in recreational computing activities in an inclusive, non-competitive and supportive environment at the computer club. Our school holiday programmes run for three hours each morning and afternoon, with a break for snacks, drinks and supervised play.

As well as offering children stimulating and enjoyable recreational activities, the School Holiday and Saturday Computer Club programmes provide families and carers with necessary respite for time on other activities.

Partnering with ECU

To provide one-on-one support for some children with special requirements, our Computer Club has formed a relationship with Lois Moir, Lecturer in Assisted Technology in Occupational Therapy at EdithCowan University and Renay Lambert, Manger of Community Integration for Community Services at The Centre for Cerebral Palsy.

With professional assistance from ECU, we can now provide additional specialised support to certain children to help them learn and grown through the use of assisted technology. Our aim is to help them develop new skills that contribute to greater independence in their lives.

The programme will run on Saturday mornings in the supportive environment of our dedicated computer lab. Children will be exposed to skills-enhancing IT programmes and equipment while for parents, they'll be able to see the great opportunities that technology can offer their children.
